3.06 Substitute Teaching
It is the policy of the Helena Public Schools Board of Trustees that the selection of substitute teachers will be conducted in a manner that provides the least disruption of the classroom while maintaining instructional standards. Therefore, substitute teachers for the Helena Public Schools shall be selected according to the following procedure whenever possible:

Substitute teachers requested by the regular classroom teacher and/or the building principal.

Substitute teachers who hold a current Montana Teaching Certificate with endorsement(s) in the subject area(s) in which they are substituting.

Substitute teachers who hold a current Montana Teaching Certificate who have experience in the subject area in which they are substituting, but may not have an endorsement in the subject area(s).

Substitute teachers who do not possess a current Montana Teaching Certificate, but may have experience in subject area in which they are substituting.

Substitute teachers who may be available.

Substitute teachers are not entitled to provisions prescribed by existing negotiated agreements.
