The Helena School District offers bus service along established, patterned routes such as the primary access road adjacent to rural areas and gridded coverage through most of the valley.  Requests for route changes will first be reviewed internally, with emphasis on establishing the presence of road maintenance agreements, bus turnaround or loop options, and safe waiting locations for students.  Then, recommended route changes will be presented to the County Transportation Committee in June of each year.

 

Pickup locations are placed along these routes as close to your home as possible.  Keep in mind that buses must be able to operate their flashing amber lights for 500' between stops.  We also require adequate visibility for other vehicle traffic to see the stopped bus, and your request for a stop may require a site visit by one of our staff.  If we are unable to locate a stop within three miles of your residence, state law provides for mileage reimbursement of the distance you travel beyond that point.  Please contact us to initiate the reimbursement process.
