May 4, 2010 Elementary Sample Ballot

The Elementary and High School ballots for the May 4, 2010 school election will be available as soon as possible.  Polls will be open from noon until 8:00 pm. Absentee voting will close at noon on Monday May 4, 2009. If you have questions, please call Donna at 324-2044.

May 4, 2010 Election Ballot Explanations

The Helena schools generally have a general levy proposition and trustee canidate postions. The elementary district will have three openings each for three year terms.  The High School District will have one opening for a representative from the Birdseye area only.  The term is for three years.

 

State of Montana Political Practices Information

Trustee candidates are required to file with the State of Montana Political Practices before they can be placed on the school district ballot.  The site below provides the forms and other requirements of the state for school district trustee candidates.  Copies of the Political Practices forms listed below should be filed with the School district (55 S. Rodney, Helena, downstairs).  East Helena candidates should file with the East Helena School District.

b)  Form C 1-A

c)  any financial information (C-5)

Helena School District Requirements

Trustee candidates are required to file the following forms by March 25, 2010

1) a nominating petition (see petition below) file completed form with Business Manger at 55 S. Rodney. 324-2040

2) an oath of candidacy  (see below)- file with the Business Manager at 55 S. Rodney. 324-2040 and

3) a copy of the State of Montana Political Practices forms (see link above) with the Business Manger at 55 S. Rodney 324-2040

Oath of Candidacy

The Oath of Candidacy is required along with the Petition for all trustee candidates.  Both are due by March 26, 2009.

Precincts

The call for the election and voting precincts will be provide by March 25 which is the last day that the Trustees of Helena School District can call an election.  If you need assistance, you can call Donna at 324-2044 or the County Elections Office at 447-8338.

Application for Absentee Ballot

If you desire to vote absentee in the school election, please complete the attached form and mail it to:

Helena School District #1, Elections Office, 55 S. Rodney, Helena, MT  59601.  By state law, absentee voting ends on Monday, May 3rd at noon.  Any absentee ballots must be returned to the polls if they have not been returned to the Business office by that time.  You may also vote absentee prior to the election at the address listed above.
