Youth Driven Hunger Awareness Campaign and Food Drive
The prevalence of hunger in our community is shocking and there are students at both Capital
and Helena High who want to engage the Helena community to do something about it.
The Helena Youth Philanthropy Council (HYPC) is planning a youth driven hunger awareness
campaign and food drive at the Crosstown Capital vs. Helena High Football game on Saturday,
November 1st. Several student groups are participating in holiday food drives and the HYPC
wants to amplify their efforts by leveraging a community event to do so.
Several student groups applied for a HYPC grant to address hunger in the community. Instead
of funding only one or two of the groups, the Council decided to encourage collaboration among
organizations to have a greater community impact.
We appreciate your help communicating to students and families encouraging them to
contribute non-perishables or cash donations at the game. The goods and funds will be
dispersed between Helena Food Share and food baskets created by high school organizations.
Items will be collected at tables located near the concessions stands at Nelson Stadium. Helena
Food Share has offered the use of their truck and crates and even the ability to weigh goods.
Thank you for supporting our effort to kick off hunger awareness at the crosstown football game.
